IRDAI Defers Proposed Third Party Premium Hike

Considering the lockdown condition in the country as imposed by Government of India to prevent the spread of Cover 19 panoramic in India, IRDA has postponed the implementation plan of hike in Motor Third Party premium rates as was proposed earlier in the month of March.

Other measured adopted by IRDA includes :-

Continuity of Motor Third Party and Health insurances falling due between 25th March to 14th April 2020 if renewed till 21st April.

It has been directed to accept the validity of necesary documents particularly related to Motor Insurance like Permit, Fitness, Driving Licence, Registration Certificate etc. if expired during 15th of March till return of normally.

Third Party Premium Change From 1st April 2020

THIRD PARTY (LIABILITY) PREMIUM CHANGE EXPECTED

It is likely the that Thir Party Premium (Liability Premium) shall change w.e.f. 1st of April 2020.

IRDAI has issued Exposure Draft on proposed changes for opinion of its stake holders on 5th of March.

Based on claims data available with Insurance Information Bureau (IIB) and its analysis on ultimate loss ratio and burning cost the changes in premiums are proposed.

The most remarkable feature of this exposure draft is to incentivise the electrical vehicles for promoting echo-friendlyness for a cleaner future of the country and the planet.
